The very first thing should be making a list of your priorities in the apartment. Like what kind of floor you are looking for, are you looking for furnished or unfurnished one?

Do you want a Fireplace in your apartment? Which floor are you looking for? It is possible that you might not find everything set in your list as your priority but never mind you will be able to find most of them if you make a list and begin your searching keeping all theses points in your mind. The second thing you should think about is that you should collect some of the information for the presentation to the landlords or agents. Check whether their needs to be any repair done before landing to the place. If you find any repairs to be made, list them out so that you can tell the agent/owner about them to be repaired. Take measurement of your furnishings whether they can easily enter the door of the apartment you are looking for. Whether there are enough cupboards for your things to settle in the place, what is the water pressure, the number of electrical outlets present? Check the neighborhood, are they friendly? They will probably have an idea why the flat was vacated. Before taking a decision on which flat you should rent one should have enough of choices available to choose from. Go and visit as many places you want to, to make a right decision for yourself. And last but not the least if you find the apartment meeting your criteria to all or some important aspects listed out act quickly on it.
